Baseline Emissions Footprint

At Volopa we are firmly committed to reducing our carbon footprint and embracing sustainable practices to mitigate our environmental impact. As part of our dedication to corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship, we have initiated efforts to assess and address our carbon emissions. This report represents our first preliminary early attempt to quantify and document our baseline emissions, laying the groundwork for future more detailed carbon reduction initiatives.

It is important to acknowledge that this initial baseline reporting marks the beginning of our journey towards carbon neutrality, and we recognize that there is much room for improvement and refinement as we progress. While this report reflects our current understanding of our carbon footprint, we anticipate that our carbon reduction efforts will evolve and improve over time as we gain deeper insights and implement more effective strategies.

In our pursuit of carbon reduction goals, we have taken proactive steps to collaborate with experienced consultants and experts in sustainability such as RKMS Group carbon consultants. These partnerships will be instrumental in guiding our efforts, providing valuable insights, and accelerating the development of robust carbon reduction plans. By leveraging external expertise, we aim to expedite our progress and ensure that our initiatives are aligned with best practices and industry standards. We are in the early stages of this relationship and working with them will more effectively allow us to determine our carbon footprint and action procedures to reduce it.

As we embark on this journey towards sustainability, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. We recognize the importance of engaging stakeholders, fostering a culture of sustainability within our organization, and actively contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. Through collaborative efforts and a steadfast commitment to environmental responsibility, we are confident in our ability to make meaningful strides towards a greener, more sustainable future.

Baseline Year: 2024

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

This is our organization’s first baseline reporting, as we have not previously assessed or reported emissions. As a result, this baseline serves as our initial assessment of emissions, providing a starting point for future tracking and reduction efforts. This baseline has been established to comply with the requirements outlined in this measure. Going forward, we will regularly update and refine our emissions data to ensure accuracy and completeness in our reporting. As stated previously we are in the early stages of working with carbon consultants to get a clearer baseline emission outlook and put procedures in place to reduce it.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 120 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 20%

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • Promote the reduction of business travel and prioritize essential trips only.
  • Promote use of public transport
  • Utilise Microsoft Teams and similar online platforms to facilitate virtual meetings, minimizing the necessity for in-person travel.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Carbon Offsetting and Greenhouse Gas Removal:
Investigating carbon offsetting initiatives and partnerships to neutralize the company’s remaining carbon emissions that cannot be eliminated through internal reduction efforts.

  • Partnerships with Carbon Offset Providers:
Forge partnerships with carbon offset providers to offset unavoidable emissions from business activities by investing in projects that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

  • Supply Chain Sustainability Programs:
Developing sustainability criteria for supplier selection and procurement processes to ensure alignment with carbon reduction goals and promote environmentally responsible practices throughout the supply chain.

  • Employee Commuting Support Programs:
Introducing incentives or subsidies for employees to use public transportation, carpooling, or cycling as alternative modes of commuting to further reduce carbon emissions from employee travel.

  • Continuous Monitoring and Reporting:
Implementing robust monitoring and reporting systems to track carbon emissions across various operations and identify additional opportunities for efficiency improvements and emissions reduction

  • Remote Work Optimisation:

Encourage and facilitate remote work options, especially for roles that do not require physical presence in the office. This can significantly reduce emissions associated with daily commuting.

  • Employee Awareness Campaigns:
Launch campaigns to raise awareness among employees about the environmental impact of their commuting habits and encourage the use of public transportation or cycling over individual car usage.

  • Green Procurement Policies:
Implement green procurement policies that prioritize suppliers with sustainable practices and products, reducing emissions associated with the procurement process and supply chain operations.

  • Energy-Efficient Equipment Upgrades: Upgrade office equipment to energy-efficient models, such as computers, printers, and HVAC systems, to reduce electricity consumption and lower overall carbon emissions.
